Cromwell Sailor Takes Silver at National Championships

The small Cromwell Radio Yacht Squadron, based at the Lake Dunstan Boating Club, has reason to celebrate with local sailor Jamie White securing second place at the National Championships, held at Kapiti Coast, in the International One Metre (IOM) class (15-17 August, 2025).

Jamie, well known as the owner of Liquorland in Cromwell, only sails the IOM class a handful of times each year, as the squadron predominantly races DF95 yachts. Despite this, he impressed the fleet of 52 competitors from across the country, sailing consistently to claim an outstanding second place.

“It’s a fantastic achievement, and we’re all very proud of him,” said a spokesperson for the Cromwell Radio Yacht Squadron.
